   Jess Comber
   Director
   Go West Handbook

Go West Handbook is a freely available backpackers/budget travel guide that promotes
Western Australia, its destinations, attractions and services here, nationally and overseas. Jess has been involved in the production, marketing and sales of a variety of publications that all relate to the budget travel industry. These include the Working Holiday Guide, Go West Post, BBM Magazine, What Ireland and the Sydney Pub Guide. Having grown up in Western Australia, Jess returned to Perth in 1999 after 12 years of living and working interstate (teaching for the Katherine School of the Air and then qualifying and establishing herself as a graphic designer in Sydney). During this time she travelled overseas whenever possible. With a passion for WA and travel, Jess began researching the need for more freely available information for budget travellers in/or coming to Western Australia. It was obvious that the backpacker market was much better catered for (in terms of information available) in other states and in other countries than here. In 2000 Jess published the first issue of Go West Handbook. She brings to the committee nine years experience in actively promoting the State and its industry operators. She also has rapport, and close working relationships, with local and major national budget industry operators and organisations.
